With the hustle and bustle of the holiday season upon us, it’s easy to get swept up in the chaos of “What to make for Thanksgiving dinner?” or “I haven’t even started my Christmas shopping!” During this time, it’s important to take a step back and think about all the things that bring us happiness and make our lives an adventure.
Yaktrax is fortunate to partner with some special individuals who make up our YakPak team! Here’s what a handful of them have to add to the gratitude list, not just this holiday season but all year long.
I’m grateful for sunshine and rocky crags, for summit sunrises and spicy traverses. Ever thankful for legs that take me to extraordinary places even though they’re tired and achy and probably need a rest. And always thankful for every stinkin’ minute I get to live this life of adventure!
I'm thankful for living in a country where we can choose to spend our time with our loved ones outdoors, and that we have great parks and lands to do it on. Time with friends and family is super valuable and having the freedom to work and live in a manner that allows for spending time with them is something I truly appreciate.
Every day I’m thankful for having healthy adventurous kids who want to experience the world and help others. I’m especially proud that we use our good health to help raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to support children with cancer and their families. For the past 3 years, we’ve been running as St. Jude Heroes to help ensure that parents whose kids are being treated by St. Jude never have to pay for treatment, housing, or food and can focus on what matters- helping their child live. I’m glad that my kids understand how important this mission is and want to give back through our races!
I am thankful for family who understands my need to exercise and my desire to get fit. Also for snow-covered landscapes, trails and miles of roads to explore.
Some additional things our YakPak is thankful for include fresh air without forest fires (Justin Knowles), safe ice on the lakes to drill holes and ice fish (Justin Carfagnini), friends who get up early with me and push me to do my best (Jessy Spencer) and the ability to drive a few hours and experience beautiful snowy mountains (Andrea Davis).
